Join the St. Louis Young Adult community for a special screening of the 2016 film “Silence”.
Directed by the acclaimed Martin Scorcese, and starring Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver, “Silence” is the story of two Portuguese Jesuit priests who sneak into shogunate Japan to spread Christianity while searching for their missing mentor Fr. Ferreira (Liam Neeson) who has been accused of denouncing the faith. Set in the 17th century during the government’s brutal persecution of Japanese Roman Catholics, this film is a psychologically gripping story of betrayal, imprisonment, doubt amidst God’s silence, reconciliation, friendship, and martyrdom.
The screening will be held in the Kapaun Student Center on the Kenrick-Glennon Seminary campus. There will be a brief discussion led by Fr. Nick Smith following the film. Doors open at 6:30, and we will start the movie at 7pm. Light snacks provided.
