Description

Sacred Heart devotion is often misunderstood as an old-fashioned, outdated devotional practice, but nothing could be farther from the truth.  The love of the Heart of Christ is needed in today’s world now more than ever, and we, the members of Christ’s Body, have a calling to embody that Love through our words, actions, and very being.  In this presentation, Virginia will speak about how Sacred Heart devotion and Eucharistic devotion relate to one another, and what it means to be devoted to a Sacred Heart that offers his very self for the life of others.

Virginia Herbers is a retreat director, author, lecturer, and spiritual director who uses story and theology to shed contemporary light on traditional Scriptural texts and devotions.  She has been an educator in the United States and Taiwan, a blogger for the USCCB, and a regular presenter at retreat centers and parishes across the country. Her undergraduate degrees are in Theology and Mathematics, and she has a Masters degree in Theological Pastoral Studies from Aquinas Institute.  She currently serves as the Director of Mission Formation for the faculty and staff at Saint Louis University.
