The STLYA community is pleased to present the third installment of our Summer Six-Pack Series, taking place on Tuesday June 25 with Katie Pesha, “Women in the Church: The Nature, Vocation, and Mission of Women.”
The theme for this year’s six-pack is “Hot Topics” where we will explore different hot-button issues and how to respond to them.
The Stained-Glass Ceiling: Injustice or Embellishment?
In a secular world that celebrates the rights and individuality of women, how does the Catholic Church remain relevant? How can women exercise leadership in a Church governed by an all-male priesthood? Katie Pesha will explore the nature, vocation and mission of women with a closer look into Saint John Paul II’s Letter to Women, and offer insights into some of the most contested questions surrounding women’s role in the Church today.
First and foremost, Katie is a wife of 13 years and a mother of four young children; two boys and two girls ranging from ages nine to one year old.
Katie is a strategic marketing and communications consultant for mostly Catholic entities across the country, and is the former Executive Director of Communications and Planning for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. During her time in this role, Katie oversaw and responded to a variety of local Church “hot button” issues affecting a range of archdiocesan entities. Her role served to streamline communications for the local Church and function as lead spokesperson.
Katie is an adjunct business instructor for several local colleges and universities holding an MBA from Webster University and a BS in Business Management from Quincy University.
Outside of work, Katie juggles her responsibilities as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, business owner, teacher, community volunteer, CYC coach, friend and short order cook, on an everlasting pursuit to find the formula for a *perfect* balance that she knows does not exist. Thus, she often defaults to the prayer of serenity for a moment of peace in the chaos of life….
“Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”
We are excited to have Katie speak to our community about this Hot Topic! Doors open at 7 and the talk starts at 7:30! Arrive early to grab some dinner and then head upstairs for drinks and the talk!
