Last weekend 40 young adults attended the annual Hearts on Fire retreat led by Fr. Joe Laramie and various Jesuit Scholastics focusing on Lent and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

We are in such need of silence.
1. Because we have lost ourselves in the midst of noise in our world! From the phone scrolling when we wake up, to the phone call on the way to the store, to the music while we work, to the podcast while we clean, we are constantly immersed in it to the point where we are afraid of it’s absence.
2. We need silence in order to hear God’s voice. Naturally we need quiet to hear anyone well, but it’s also the way that God chooses to speak to us!
Where do we learn to listen to God’s voice? Well, how does he appear in scripture? - still and small How does he appear to us today? In the Eucharist. “There is nothing littler, meeker, or more silent than Christ present in the Host. The little piece of bread embodies the humility and perfect silence of God, his tenderness, and his love for us” (Power of Silence)

The Society of St. Vincent De Paul Young Adult Min

The Society of St. Vincent De Paul Young Adult Ministry hosted its first-ever "Fundraise a Glass" beer-tasting and volunteer fair at St. John the Baptist Church, near the Bevo Mill, on June 4. Proceeds benefitted the SVDP YAM, and representatives of young friends/young professionals groups for Cor Unum, Catholic Charities, and L'Arche were available to talk with guests about their volunteer opportunities.
